Katrina Brown
Katrina Brown (NL/UK) in collaboration with invited artists worked on the dialogues between drawing and movement, thinking and body, process and form. Simultaneously, Katrina Brown led different workshops in Celrà for children of 6 to 10 years of age, based on her movement research. The workshops took place in collaboration with the pedagogic team of the Municipal Dance School of Celrà (EMDC).
"I am interested in making a book; a book in the widest sense of what that may be, a book that is about-and-in movement. Book as an object, material, a bound multitude of pages and book as a personal private event. I want to work with an ongoing dialogue between practice and page, between movement and book, a dialogue between three-dimensional space and flat surface. To investigate and deal with body gravity change layer trace within the turning of pages. To investigate action, frame, edge, space, time.
Within this period working in the studio together, I will include trips to the dance school in Celrà. I wanted to involve childen in this project. I am curious about their physical knowledge and direct approach and strategies towards movement, space, eachother.
How children reason, experience, reflect, act reveals a lot about life, art, freedom.
I will be working at l'Animal with Alexis C Blake and other guests."
