Vincent Dunoyer
The French dancer Vincent Dunoyer will undertake research in residence on the body and memory, the memory of choreographers who have made a mark in the history of dance, and of his own personal story. What remains of dance when dance no longer exists? Is there a memory of dance beyond its images?
Dunoyer will reflect on the body of the dancer as a living archive of dance. He wishes to research these questions playing with John Cage's music Cheap imitation.
With the collaboration of La Porta
What is left of dance when dance does not exist anymore? Is there a memory of dance outside images (a dancing memory)? What kind of "archive" for dance? The dancer's body: a live archive?
The relations of dancer and choreographer in the creative process, their "positions", their dependance?
The work of a choreographer: movements of bodies in time and space. What would be the "smallest unit" to trace this work? A specific movement? A specific body? A gesture? A part of the body? An organ?
The American artist Carl Andre once said : "I don't have ideas, I only have desires". My desire for this residency would be to explore some of these questions together with a music score: "Cheap Imitation" by John Cage, inspired by Erik Satie's "Socrates", itself inspired by histories of the philosopher Socrates as remembered and told by Plato.
