(Seminar Master )
Escoles Velles (Carretera de juià, 88. Celrà)
From 16/03/2009 to 19/03/2009
Bojana Kunst
L'animal a l'esquena and the Master MACAPD (Master in Contemporary Arts Practice and dissemination) organized in collaboration with the Fundació Universitat de Girona Innovació i Formació and the Càtedra Unesco, presents Bojana Kunst's seminar. Professor Kunst is a philosopher and a playwriter coming from Slovenia.
The relation between theoretical reflection and practice of performance making can very often be described with a joke. In theory, practice and theory are the same, but in practice, they turned out to be something completely different. However in this joke a very specific understanding of theory and practice is already implied. On one side we have a theory as an abstract procedure of reflection where everything can be linked to everything else, on the other, practice as practical phronesis which can only differentiate from the experience. The seminar will, with its focus on the status of theory in contemporary performance making, reflect on this division of practice and theory and relate the theory to dramaturgy, to the status of criticism today and reflection in the process of performance making.
In the last decades we can witness the dissapearance of the divisions between different professions (like dancer, choreographer, dramaturg, director, producer, critic) which also testify about changes in cultural and political conditions of the contemporary work of art. In the seminar I will especially focus on the changed status of contemporary critique and numerous processes of afective and embodied approach to performance work.
