Privolva is: a parallel space, the side of the moon we can not see from here, the perpetuum mobile, certain cosmic bodies, a sensation of non-gravity, a non place, a stage film, it is forward 2111.
Prometheus, this is Athena on approach. Do you read me? (Solaris)
Privolva takes the genre of science fiction cinema as the framework for work. The projects is interested in science fiction when it approaches the fantastic, not so much in the scientific and technological aspects of it.
The starting point is a series of selected referents of the genre to investigate on the way they deal with the natural and artificial body, time and its (im)possible manipulation and also the construction of parallel spaces.
Through a series utopic impulses it deals with questions like what is the future of the bodies? What belongs to nature and what is cultural in the construction of bodies? Can we modify the limits of the body?
The project also investigates on how to translate mechanisms and elements of cinema onto stage. The sound will accompany the movement creating an invisible context through hearing.
This residence will take place at the beginning of the process. It will be the first time the three people who work as interpreters meet for the project. Later the sound composer will come to work. During this period we are going to work on movement materials, on the selected scenes of the films and text materials (through subtitles and voice-over); spreading out and later selecting and rejecting what does not belong to the project in order to establish the direction the project will follow after this period of residency.
