Finishing toucnes to the construction Shelters, cabins and other ephemeral constructions

The team Refugios, Cabañas Y Otras Construcciones Efímeras (Shelters, Cabins and Other Ephemeral Constructions), Eduard Baulida, Oriol Batllé, Pep Aimerich and Enric Fábregas, embark on a participatory project in which, over several days, they will build a stage for L'animal a l'esquena's own shows. They invite the people of the Municipality of Celrà and others nearby to come and join in, as on other occasions.

The idea for the first Shelters, Cabins and Other Ephemeral Constructions event, in November 2009, came from the ancient, artistic, playful urge to build that we all have within us. Directed by Josep Pujiula, the group built a cabin suspended between holm oaks over the pond by Celrà's Desvern Tower, in acacia and chestnut. The second gathering built a cane bower by the Riart bridge in Celrà, following a proposal by the team and under the technical guidance of Jonathan Cory-Wright.

The third Shelters, Cabins and Other Ephemeral Constructions event, to be held in the grounds of Mas Espolla as part of the programme L'animal Tardor, will again be helping in the construction of our environment and surrounding landscape.
This is low-tech. The work will be done by hand with craftsmen's tools, with no need for heavy machinery or high tech processes or materials. When we learn a skill, it reminds us of the power of individual work and the possibilities of craftsmanship.
Local materials,
The project is ephemeral and low impact. The building work will not be so solid or irreversible that the land cannot be returned to its present agricultural use, with the same conditions and quality.
