( Ayara Hernández, Felix Marchand )
The project to be developed in this residency is a continuation of the piece NEW. The idea is to work on the script for the piece, taking it apart at the seams so as to transform and reinvent it.
NEW is part of the project documentación orgánica (organic documentation), a series of pieces dealing with the poetry of memory processes in performance. Organic documentation is the record that happens naturally, made up of what the performance leaves in the memories of those taking part, those who create the event, without the need to resort to any other device beyond their own bodies. It is also the record of the constant and continuous evolution of a live event, impossible to preserve.
In NEW, the latest production by Lupita Pulpo, the three choreographers, performers, members of the audience – Ayara Hernández, Félix Marchand and Irina Mueller – recapture fragments, traces of works that have stayed in their memories, appropriate them and put flesh back onto the bones of these memories in an attempt to create something new
Since 2002 Ayara Hernández Holz and Félix Marchand have worked together under the name Lupita Pulpo. Their work has been shown in Uruguay, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Spain, Finland, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Lupita Pulpo has also produced arts events such as Berlin (Montevideo, 2006) and in 2006 and 2007 published SchwungBein, a fanzine of contemporary art and performance in Berlin
