L'animal a l'esquena (Celrà)

Construcción vertical/Vertical Construction is a series that forms part of the Intervenciones en entornos naturales/Interventions in Natural Surroundings project that I have been working on since 2004, in which I make sculptures with a human appearance using materials that will weather with the passage of time. The cycles of the changing environment put the finishing touches to the work, turning it into an anthropomorphic portrait of the place where it is set as it takes on the texture and colour range of its surroundings until it is completely mingled in and so disappears.
The project Vertical Construction at L'animal a l'esquena consists of two phases. In the first, which took place in Spring 2012, a series of interventions in different parts of L'animal a l'esquena were shown in a walk with people actively involved in the project. Their impressions were later shared at a round table discussion in order to lay the conceptual foundations of the second phase.
During this second and final stage, an ephemeral sculpture will be raised, containing the elements gathered earlier in the first stage. It will be made using a pit as a mould, dug out of the earth as a negative.
