Aimar Pérez Galí
Aimar Pérez Galí has developed the project Sweating the Discourse over the course of a year, a perfomative lecture that first appeared within the framework of the Independent Studies Programme directed at MACBA by Paul Beatríz Preciado and has since been performed at different institutions and festivals, both in Spain and abroad. In collaboration with Teatro.Tinta, Aimar will be in residence at L’animal a l’esquena to transcribe the lecture, so as to be able to produce a document printed on paper, available in bookshops like other Teatro.Tinta publications.
“In this presentation I will speak about the dancer as a subaltern subject; I will speak about how the training of the dancer, which seeks to produce a body-machine that does not require discourse, is one of the main agents of the dancer's subaltern condition; I will speak about my body as an archive or a live document; I will affirm: my body is my thesis; I will speak about the fetishization of the dancer's body; I will speak about how the discourse of dance is not legitimized by practice but rather by those who observe and analyze it, and the problems that this brings.
And I can do all this because I am a dancer, and my practice, or my discourse,
both physical and theoretical, passes through this body, that sweats and speaks.”
