Leonor Leal
In the world of flamenco jaleo is more than a word… or less… it is a sound, a shout, an impulse, a groan or a breath. It is everything that, from within us or outside, makes us carry on, gives us life, encourages or challenges us.
In this first stage of research, guided by María Muñoz, with the musicians Antonio Moreno (percussion) and Alfredo Lagos (flamenco guitar), Leonor Leal will begin to share and compose a multifaceted flamenco scene through a common folklore, re-written and thoroughly re-visited.
Folklore, flamenco and musical theatre by contemporary composers will brought out to see what they have to say to one another.
A dancing blow, a hard-hitting dance and a singing guitar.
The JALEO project is part of Tapete Común, a project on which the creation space Azala, based in Lasierra, a small town in southern Álava, collaborates with L’animal a l’esquena to provide artistic residencies for creation and research so that the arts can play their part in the local development of small towns away from the influence of big cities.
