(Writing Residence )
L'animal a l'esquena (Celrà)
From 10/04/2017 to 16/04/2017
Antonella D'Ascenzi
During her residency, Antonella D’Ascenzi will look further into the main themes of the book on dance and gender which she is writing. This work covers the philosophical, sociological and anthropological foundations of her methodology, her relationship with Cultural/Gender/Dance Studies and a reconstruction of the research into the female body that she has been carrying out for nearly ten years. As well as theory, the book explores the potential of the choreography of the pieces created during her gender projects, in which participants have included women at risk of social exclusion, who have suffered ill treatment, or who are part of empowering schemes such as education or performing arts professionals. Women with these different profiles have questioned the body as defined by gender.
The aim will be to outline a method of working with gender that puts dance-theatre centre stage, as a way of re-inventing the social body of women.
