( Xavier Bobés, Salvador Sunyer )
Creation, script-writing and manipulation-choreography residency for the short film Restos de Cosas.
The art of manipulating objects is still unfamiliar to the general public. The universe surrounding the poetry of the object, its theatricality, its historic and sociological evocation, has mainly been explored in the visual and performance arts. The great communicator of the infinite possibilities of representation based on the poetry of objects in film has been animation, where one exceptional figure has brought about a worldwide paradigm shift in the way it is regarded: Jan Svankmajer. Paradoxically, this animation of the object is always bound up in its potential for transformation through the creation of a fantasy universe. The use of artistic devices defines and to some extent limits the metaphorical expressivity of the object.
The great challenge we face in Restos de Cosas is to reclaim the poetry of the object in itself, without any need for grand artistic effects and with the clear aim of suppressing any artifice, giving priority to its capacity to evoke the intimate experiences of the individual.
