Vera-Miranda
( María García Vera, Juan Pablo Miranda )
Werner o el azul de los orígenes/Werner or the Blue of Beginnings is built around quotes, remnants of a supposedly rediscovered script for the second part of a film that was never made (The South by Victor Erice), the reconstruction of the last days of Werner as witnessed by his wife, the recuperation of roots in the jungle and Werner’s tracks through it, his boat on the Amazon, the boat climbing a mountain… irretrievable realities that can now only be quoted and imagined.
We have worked together for over five years. Our artistic affinities have led us to form this duo that allows us to reflect and experiment through our performance practice. Together, we investigate, theorise and create performance pieces that focus on the performer, his or her presence, emotions and power.
There is an artistic fusion in the way we come together that has led us to research our own roots, our home ports, always with a poetic gaze, fantasising about possible genealogies and avoiding historical certainties. Metaphor is impossible where the images we are talking about are not somehow anchored in our personal universe. This is why we are seduced by the idea of entrenching ourselves in the contemporary, keeping a space for feeling, fate, craft and an excess of passion.
