Abrazo (Embrace) is the next project coming up for MAR-MAR, directed by Nerea Martínez, with Natalia García Muro and the designer Mónica Lavandera.
We’re talking about bodies in a state of stillness, image, infinite vision, a time for contemplation, silence appreciated in all its 360º. We’re looking at what would happen if we were to work with the idea of feeling that we were sculptures, matter. If we think of the body made of clay: how would it move? The idea of stillness, a slow time, an image changing imperceptibly so that, almost without realising, you are seeing a different sculpture, a different embrace, another action. It’s as if it were a photogram.
During their stay at L’animal a l’esquena, they want to research different ways of embracing, exploring how two bodies in the act of hugging flow together in unison. It’s an investigation into how to sculpt another person. We ask what happens to the body that is being embraced or what happens if the embraced body leave, or if the embraced body leaves and returns to surround the solitary embrace. One hug seeks another. Or even what happens if an embrace is moved to another place. We look into the infinite possibilities that open up and how each of them produces different bodies, images that hold our attention, and we’ll take our research from there. How are bodies formed through the act of one body encircling or clinging to another?
