(Creation Residence )
L'animal a l'esquena (Celrà)
From 26/12/2022 to 05/01/2023
Meritxell Colell, Angélica Castelló
Mertitxell Colell returns to L’animal in a second residence for the project Far From The Trees in collaboration with Angélica Castelló. After the residency in 2021 and different meetings during 2022, they return to continue working on the sound work and the script for the film. This project will continue in 2023 and 2024 in L’Animal a l’esquena.
“Turning images into material. Feeling the sand, the dust as something physical impregnating the image, taking shape in it. It is essential to work on the link between sensation and perception. We want to make a film that can be heard, touched, smelt, to make a physical connection that is direct and not intellectual. In this way viewers will feel in their bones the “being” and “happenning” of the journey.
This is an outward and inner journey connecting to the viewers’ own experiences, transformative experiences that bring them close to Angélica’s inner world. We aim to keep something of the texture of grains of sand in the grain of the image, based on the work of key artists such as Antoni Tàpies, Ignasi Aballí and Miquel Barceló. Tactile work, with body and volume.”
