Cartografies Sensibles
( Eugenia García Sottile, Carola Baldini, Sandra Sotelo, Joaquín Jara, Yosuke Taki )

ico Putting yourself in the other person’s shoes from three points of view: choreographic notation – cartography – perception.

There is a very old relationship between cartography and choreographic notation, even etimologically. The paths of the two languages have crossed at several moments in the history of art and now meet again, reflecting new concepts, alongside contemporary thinking on landscapes, movement, shared space and ecology.

The team made up of Eugenia García Sottile, Carola Baldini, Sandra Sotelo, Joaquín Jara and Yosuke Taki aims to seek new connections for artistic creation, educational practice and interdisciplinary research, using trans-duction/-lation exercices to cut through ideas of space and language. They have formed this group to work together, from people who inhabit different spaces, talk different languages and come from different disciplines. Other places, other people’s places, are the places where they hope to meet to put out roots and generate and synergy.

Cartografías sensibles (Sensitive Cartographies) is a long-term project and at L’animal a l’esquena the five members of the team are meeting for the first time to sound out and impress each other. They hope to create a shared language and develop a piece of work together in the course of various encounters: Celrà, Valencia, Barcelona, Girona, Milan…
