L’animal a l’esquena has been invited to the next MES DE DANZA/DANCE MONTH Festival, an international showcase for contemporary dance in Seville, which will be held from 30th October to 8th November, as the first organisation to which the festival is offering CARTE BLANCHE to put forward artists who have residencies at the creation centre or are associated with it.
CARTE BLANCHE TO… consists in giving free rein to a collective whose main focus in its aims and actions is to encourage, promote, highlight and suppport contemporary choreographic creation. The initiative aims to encourage dialogue between different communities in Spain, creating synergies in the development and promotion of contemporary dance and supporting and raising the profile of the work of the guest organisation. The programme to be presented by L’animal a l’esquena for CARTE BLANCHE TO… is as follows: Solos Bach & Gould by Albert Quesada and Federica Porello, Privolva by Olatz de Andrés, Admirando a la Cheikha by Marta Izquierdo [lodudo] producción, Siete Lunas by Niño de Elche and María Muñoz/Mal Pelo and the documentary on Mal Pelo made by Nuria Font, Cuerpo al aire, pies en el suelo (Body in the Air, Feet on the Ground).
“L’animal a l’esquena has become a model space for residencies and suppport for creation, both nationally and internationally.
There is a clear lack of spaces for creative residencies that offer an environment favourable to creative development in our country. Showing, through CARTE BLANCHE TO…, the work carried out by this centre for over fifteen years, demonstrates how it can be done and sets a necessary example. Creation residencies are a fundamental tool for high quality, demanding artistic development.”
