ico Natalia Jiménez and Jorge Gallardo have been working together for four years. Since the Proyecto Conjugaciones (2011), they have been conducting practical research that has produced the pieces Manifiesto en la Frontera, Práctica en la Frontera and Júbilo. These look into the work of a performer in a rustic setting, where the body is without artifice, constructing the whole architecture of the performance. Their latest piece is La Obra Vacía (se ha llenado de flores).

Movement banishes cold, stillness heat. If things were not separated by a layer of emptiness we could not count them or see them move. 1, 5, 6, infinity and that’s where something happens, like an apparition. The essence of performance is a constant choreographic relay of actions, where words, music, images and dance overlap. Ceaseless movement! It aims to be a time full of memories and predictions, a de-systemisation full of systems, a plurality full of highly saturated individualisations: body – ethereal matter, social body – full of people, body of presence, composed of a fleeting present.

La Obra Vacía is a score dispossessed of itself; all the bodies are one.

What we have here is a multiplication of presence on an abstract plane and, on a more concrete one, we are talking about imagining other forms of wealth and abundance, other ways of indulging oneself and of being, of affecting and being affected by the many crossroads presented by the system, highlighting eroticism, the carnal, touch and the joy of the rich depths where nothing is certain.
