Group LaBolsa

ico Retratos Errantes/Errant Portraits investigates how to emphasise the individuality of the creative worlds of each performer, with the attentive accompaniment of the company Mal Pelo. The interest in this encounter lies in showing how one group of creators/performers can offer multiple perspectives on each individual within the collective.

The piece revolves around the idea of the portrait. The idea of portraying themselves puts an intimate frame around each individual, revealing his or her singularity, and in this way reflects the sensitivity of the human condition.

LaBolsa are hoping to portray themselves, to be mirrors for each other so as to draw closer. With this mutual affection the collective builds resistance to the trends of social disintegration: portraiture as a form of praise, devoting time to contemplation of the other.

Drawing an analogy with painting, in a book on drawing, John Berger points out this identification or fusion of the creator with his creation in the art of drawing: “every confirmation or refutation brings him or her closer to the object, until he/she ends up, shall we say, inside it: the outlines that one has drawn no longer mark the limit of what one has seen, but the limit of what one has turned it into.”

LaBolsa would like to give this focus of lastingness, capturing a memory so as to make it a constant presence. They will work on individuals with the aim of also creating a portrait of the collective. A collective portrait achieved through the overlapping of portraits.

A set of individuals describe others, acting as mirrors, while always from their own point of view. These portraits, descriptions and views are not erased, they are called up, valued, and so they last
