La Verema
L'ARREPLEGADA is a cultural and social inter-disciplinary festival. The first was held in 2022. It is organised by the group La Verema, in close collaboration with L’animal a l’esquena, where the event takes place. The festival covers a wide range of artistic disciplines, from performance arts, graphic plastic arts, visual arts and literary arts to music.
The aim is to provide a kaleidoscopic and plural space in which to share, get to know and encourage the work of young and emerging artists. The gathering hopes to be a catalyst, offering a creative interchange between the participants, who come from a variety of branches of creation, thus encouraging the formation of a decentralised and active artistic network.
THE FESTIVAL’S VALUES
Establishing an annual platform to give greater visibility to young and/or emerging artists
A not-for-profit event, both for the artists and for the organisation
Encouraging the performing arts in local areas, away from large urban centres
Generating links between local, national and international artists
Promoting social, cultural and gender inclusion and diversity in the arts
Creation of an artistic network through communication between participants
Creation of new audiences
Production of a festival that is run by a collective of young, emerging talents
Zero tolerance of sexist behaviour, harrassment, racism and other forms of discrimination and violence. We are actively working to erradicate any behaviour that might encourage these attitudes.
Promotion of mutual respect between people and for the environment
Linguistic policy: we are working towards linguistic inclusion of all artists and audiences. Although Catalan is the main language of the festival, other languages such as Castillian Spanish, English and French are also used.
THE 2024 FESTIVAL:
The third L’ARREPLEGADA is planned for the 19th and 20th July 2024 and the La Verema collective will be in residence at L’animal a l’esquena for the festival project for two weeks from 8th to 21st July 2024.
During the spring of 2024 the call will go out for local, national and international artists to apply with artistic projects in the different categories of L’ARREPLEGADA. Later, La Verema will select the projects to take part in the festival programme. We shall take care to produce a diverse programme.
From 11th to 18th July there will be several site-specific residencies around L’animal a l’esquena to allow the artists in this category to prepare their projects, with the support of La Verema.
On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July there will be a dance and improvisation workshop directed by Michèle Benz and Gaia Magrané, open to the public.
From Monday 15th July, the La Verema collective, their collaborators and assistants, will begin preparing the space for L’ARREPLEGADA.
On Friday 19th July, there will be a training session for young and emerging artists, offering advice on financial and employment matters in their professional lives. This will be followed by a group meal to encourage artists, organisers, helpers and collaborators to interact and get to know each other. The day will end with a battle, open to the public.
On Saturday 20th July comes L’ARREPLEGADA, which will include a showcase of performing arts, an exhibition of graphic, plastic and literary arts, as well as music. There will also be a dinner followed by an after party with rap and DJs.
