Jorge Gallardo
A wandering performance artist. He works in collaboration with different projects in cities and towns such as Barcelona, Seville, Jaén, Cordoba, Vejer de la Frontera, Alanís de la Sierra, Wroclaw and Gdansk (Poland). He usually works as a catalyst for performance proposals related to the body (contemporary dance and/or physical theatre) and to the theatre of objects, his dramatist’s focus ranging from the microscopic (directing performers) to the macro (plot). With a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Malaga and in Performance Direction from the Institut del Teatre, Barcelona, he completed a research project that drew together most of his practices: “Hybrids: practices for the integration of ritual in the capitalist theatre”. He developed this theme as a PhD thesis at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares. This project included practices employed in his work with Natalia Jiménez, Nazario Díaz and the Colectivo Arriero. With the latter, he concentrates on generating contexts to look afresh at the live arts and delve into the technique of the performer half way between ritual and performance, states of the body and being where reality is transcended without being denied.
