Dancer, choreograph and pedagogue, he was born in Ubundu (Congo RD, ex Zaire) and he is currently living in Kinshasa along with the three integrants of his company in Kinshasa. In 1997 he co-founded his first contemporary dance company in Kenya, the company Gàara. In 2001 he created a center for dance and visual theater called Studios Kabako where they develop teaching programs, research and creation.
Faustin Linyekula says about himself: "I am a dancer, I am African but I am not an African dancer."
