Monte Isla is made up of Adrià Girona, Andrea Pellejero and Rut Girona, as well as other collaborators who orbit around the project. The company works around the idea of landscape to create its pieces. Based on this concept, we have developed a series of practices to do with the choreography of the inert, that is to say everything that is part of the staging that is not a human body: the technical aspects (lighting, sound and equipment), the space, the set, the props and the material.
The company is based in Can Doncella, a rural arts project near Sils, Gerona. In 2023 they co-founded the live arts festival “This won’t please the people” along with various arts organisations and companies in the province, a festival that aims to generate a new cultural network for contemporary art in the area.
Monte Isla is part of the Nave Ivanow project, a creative hub where it has been a resident company since 2021. Throughout its career it has worked with other arts organisations such as Workspace Brussels (Belgium), Teatro Puerto (Chile), Abri (Geneva), La Estruch, Festival Salmon, El Canal de Salt, Espacio Name Name and Konvento 0.
