Laia Santanach
Choreographer, dancer and teacher living in Barcelona. She currently directs her own company under her name.
She created the solo Bailando Bailábamos, premiered in 2016 and still on tour, and in 2017 she presented Réplica, first performed in a shorter version at the Mercat de les Flors.
In 2019 she premiered the piece ÀER, currently on tour, and in March 2022 she premiered her latest piece TRADERE at the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona.
Her pieces have toured Spain, France, the Netherlands and Italy and she has received the support of institutions such as the Ballet National de Marseiile, Mercat de les Flors and Teatros del Canal, among others.
She has won awards such as the Premio Delfí Colomé 2018 for ÀER, was a candidate for the Premio MAX as best choreographer for ÀER and finalist for the Premio Dansacat in the soundspace category for ÀER. She was nominated for the XXV Premios de la Crítica as best choreographer and best national dance show for TRADERE. She won the prize for best performer for Bailando Bailábamos as part of the festival 15m2 in 2023. She won an award for creative support for NOW as part of the festival Mits 2017, the Tanzhaus Zürich residency prize at the Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid 2019 for Vaivé, and was a finalist for the Premios Instituto del teatro 2017 for Réplica.
She was commisioned to choreograph part of Móbilus by the visual theatre company Addaura, finalist for the Premios MAX 2016, and HIRAETH and Endless Blue with the audiovisual artist Ignasi Castañé for Cobosmika Seeds in 2019 and 2021.
She has acted as assistant choreographer for various circus companies such as Du'K'To on their recent show Cafuné, directed by Pau Portabella, and for the same director on E’go by the company Dikothomia, which won the award for best street show at Umore Azoka Leioa.
She was also assistant on the show LEK by the company Siu’giu Circus and on Via Via by the company Circooltura. She was recently a consultant on the show A rienda suelta by the company Du’K’To.

As a dancer she has worked with many companies since 2005, including Plan B Danza (Arantxa Sagardoy and Alfredo Bravo), Tránsit Dansa (Maria Rovira), Gelabert-Azzopardi, Vero Cendoya, La pequeña Malumaluga, Pepe Hevia Danza, Idan Sharabi, Elephant in the Black Box (Madrid), Teresa Nieto en Compañía (Madrid) and with performance directors such as Àlex Rigola (Teatro Stabile del Veneto), Carmen Portacelli, La Fura del Baus and Comediants.
As a teacher she has given classes and workshops at Área, ESDM, Escuela de circo Rogelio Rivel, nunArt, Menorca en Dansa, Descalzhina (Madrid), Cobosmika Seeds, Dass project (St. Petersburg) and has been a teaching assistant for six years at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.
She currently teaches at the dance and creation studio at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.
She has also taken intermediate courses in piano and saxophone at the Taller de Músics de Barcelona.
