( Àngel Duran )

PAPILLON questions the contemporary concept of individual liberty in a society that is ever more dependent. This proposal exposes the collision between impulse and reason; false freedom and real freedom. The identity and singularity of the individual is questioned, with the pretext of presenting the performer in a fictitious luminous cocoon, clearly inspired by a modern Platonic cave.
By understanding anxiety as a vertigo induced by freedom and the inability to take control, the piece presents us with a human being reduced to little more than a sleepwalking robot, a kind of insect-eating puppet, like a butterfly trapped in the light.
The set is surrounded by a light installation around the performer like a cage. The beauty and light of this do not let us see beyond, hiding whatever is in the darkness. Limits and liberty co-exist in the reality of the individual, just as darkness and light are part of the reality of mankind.
The aim of this residency is to finish/conclude the piece before its first performance at the Fira Tàrrega, so the whole team, or most of us, need to meet to fine-tune all the information and every aspect of the piece.
