As a continuation of the piece Diamant, Animal Locomotion treats dance and the body as a realm of mysterious imagination, a subtle place where our deepest selves are expressed in the image of music. This solo by Lorena Calandín will be inspired by her unique character as a performer and the work of Muybridge and Marey, precursors of the cinema, known for their photographic deconstructions of movement (chronophotography). Through their work, these artists tried to unravel the mystery of the impalpable nature of movement and above all, like other researchers throughout history, of dance. It is this precise intersection of science, art and mystery that is the starting point for Animal Locomotion. These images provide inspiration, with their repetitive, hypnotic structure, fascinating in its potential for discrepancy. The title Animal Locomotion also refers to the question of our human condition and destiny.
