Marta Izquierdo
( Marta Izquierdo )

For this new choreographic project, Marta Izquierdo will invite two men to take on the mythological figures of titans or twins. This is an encounter between two dancers, Pepe Serrano and Kouadio Ebenezer, working on mythological figures. Firstly we have the Titans, archaic figures of Greek mythology who lived on Olympus before they were chased out by Zeus and his divine sons. Then we have the heroic and tragic figures of the inseparable twins Castor and Pollux.
Pepe Serrano lives in Madrid, Kouadio Ebenezer (“Ebony”) in Toulouse. They share an imposing height, youth (aged 18 and 23), and appear as two living sculptures, two brother Titans separated not by Mount Olympus, but by the Pyrenees.
These giants, far from having a monolithic virility, are androgynous. As usual in the choreographic projects of Marta Izquierdo, there is a distance between the figure and the performer who embodies him or her.
Pepe is currently working as a drag artist in the discos of Madrid, combining this activity with his work as an actor-performer and as a plastic artist.
Ebenezer is a dancer. He has been a classical dancer but is chiefly known for Voguing, though open to other choreographic languages.

For this project, after two highly scripted pieces, Marta wants to mix the procedures of contemporary dance with a way of experiencing the artistic act that is more associated with performance.
How can these two people, physically close but with different languages, live together on the stage? Her aim is to displace them and nudge them towards a piece in which the languages will mingle, where two bodies will find each other in the same space without their usual weapons.
