Raffaella Giordano, María Muñoz
( Raffaella Giordano, María Muñoz )

Performance as part of the programme of the Festival de Tardor de Catalunya Temporada Alta 2014, in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Celrà and L'animal a l'esquena.

After several encounters between Raffaella Giordano and María Muñoz at L'animal a l'esquena and L'arboretto (Mondaino, Italy) in 2012 and 2013, and after the premiere of the outcome of this process at the Théâtre de Bernardines in Marseilles, France, on 4th December 2013, L'incontro is now to be peformed in Catalonia after a tour of various Italian towns.

Maria Muñoz and Raffaella Giordano step out on stage together to bring to life a unique and intensely poetic piece. Two fiercely independent spirits, authors and creators of universes of movement, always curious about the multiple forms of artistic expression, they were also both founders of dance companies in the grand old 1980s.

The space is vast, the boundary uncertain between peaceful nature on the outside and evolving dark material on the inside. Simplicity and recognition generate a reciprocal touch pregnant with unexpressed substance. The present is inscribed in the meeting place, each word, gesture and passage leaving their seed in the air, gathered in their invisible perceptibility, bearing fruit and generating the next movement. Each of them keeps secrets and the inner voice that emerges is knowledgeable, indirect and real. The words of the body resonate in space becoming a continuous evolution, a successive movement, like an exercise book with its blank pages unused, like a window open to the sky, like a sheet hanging out to dry, like a stretch of parched earth, like a rock waiting for a wave, like a field of wheat in an unexpected wind. What remains is strength and grace, the discipline of loving unconditionally the ways of the body. The secret is illuminated close up, reluctant to be deciphered, and in the end remains hidden.
