L’animal Tardor (L’Animal Autumn) is the umbrella for the activities we plan for September and October, around the central theme of Creation, Nature and Science (Technology).

Work to encourage activity, involvement and communication in a non-urban environment brings with it a process of dialogue between many different factors, a process of constant reaffirmation. After ten years’ experience on a project like L’animal a l’esquena, in its unique setting where farm work goes hand in hand with creation, we want to deepen our relationships with our immediate context through dialogue and the contributions of local and international collaborators, creating a network of similar projects in many countries, where there are associations and centres working to carve new visions based on a scientific approach to creation in marginal places, each in their specific terrain.

The idea is that the activities planned for L’animal Tardor should allow concerns arising from the relationship between science, nature and creation to be aired. New horizons include visibility, social participation and diversity of discourse. What is the countryside? Where does the city end? Are they opposites? How can we make use of the layers of our relationship with nature today. Is creation different in a non-urban environment? We shall cast a scientific, creative and practical eye over a changing environment that still has much to tell us about our social and political stratification.

The activities of L’animal Tardor include moments of reflection, creation, experiment and social interaction. We hope, with the first ever Bhum! event, to showcase creative work in a place that brings together our three central themes: Creation, Nature and Science.

The return of Bhum! (Human Frontier Manifesto)

This sixth Bhum! is special. We would like to celebrate with all of you the 30th anniversary of Mal Pelo, patron and driving force behind L’animal a l’esquena. We’re holding the event at home, in Celrà, the village that has welcomed us so warmly since the first day.
We would also like to celebrate Mal Pelo and L’animal’s long relationship with Baró d’Evel Cirk Cie, who are joining us in the design of this latest event.

This Bhum! will also count on the vital presence of creators, technicians and volunteers who take part for no profit to themselves, in support of L’animal and its place on the cultural map of this country.

On 19th November we would like to celebrate with you the restoration of the porch at Mas Espolla, a space that has seen many shared moments. The threshing floor and porch have been emblems of our BHUM! Festivities and the scene of many conversations with guest artists at L’animal a l’esquena.

The porch needed revitalising and we have rebuilt it. With this party, L’animal reaffirms its commitment to carrying on its annual programme of events and also to holding another BHUM! in the future. Renovation means reinventing ourselves, making ourselves stronger and more beautiful. This is the spirit in which we want to re-inhabit our – your – porch.

L'animal Tardor is the umbrella for a programme of activities centred around Creation, Nature and Science (technology) and other projects from 16th September to 5th October.

The activities of L'animal Tardor aim to address the concerns arising from the relationship between science, nature and creation. New horizons include visibility, social participation and diversity of discourse. When we talk about the arts and their territory, we need to talk about the margins and an attempt at decentralisation. The tasks of stimulation, participation and communication in a non-urban environment require dialogue and a constant process of doubt, questioning and reaffirmation. We take a scientific, creative and practical view of a changing environment that can still teach us a great deal about our social and political structures. The activities of L'animal Tardor include moments of reflection, creation, experiment and social gathering.

PASSING THROUGH

L'animal a l'esquena (Celrà)
From 09/10/2012 to 13/10/2012

David Zambrano
( David Zambrano )

We will be working toward defining a shared but invisible space punctuated by "pathways", the group of dancers creates its own dynamic, flexible and complex language without needing to designate a leader. Several bodies interact spontaneously and harmoniously, as though a single conscience were guiding them.
The passing through takes students through various exercises to manifest Zambrano's philosophy that movement needs no leader in creation. The students will create dynamics that will be flexible and complex at the same time, getting the group to fit tight together, yet always keeping doors open for the unpredictable. The group moves constantly, transforming the environment of the dance. The students work to see the room full of pathways – infinite pathways passing through the walls, the floor, the bodies. These pathways go in any direction and are filled with curves, large medium and small curves. Thus the passing through is created into a spontaneous composition. When the group becomes one mind, it can never get lost, it is always going some where. There is never one person leading or following, every one is leading or following, depending on the situation. The whole group is constantly traveling.
This workshop is very physical. Whoever wants to take it, she/he must know that we are moving our thoughts all day.

5th July 2009, 0:27 A.M
Samuel & Marta drank three beers. The bitterness of their beers mingles with the disappointment of having seen the singer buried under an unfailing speactacular machine. A too full show. Too smooth. Too well-done.

7th July 2009, 8:03 A.M
Samuel spills his coffee cup. He picks up his phone and calls Marta.

8:57 A.M
It's settled. They will make a performance out of their frustration.

During the seminar Creation, Nature, Body and Mind, we shall invite various artists, scientists and editors to share experiences of their current work with each other and an interested public. Though the projects they run are very different, they share an interest in the relationship between creation, nature as a context, the body and writing, concepts that L'animal a l'esquena will be dealing with in this new phase.

The focus of the seminar is to establish synergies and strategies to foster the relationship between theoretical and practical knowledge contributed by each of the participants. Over an intensive six day period the contents of each project will be presented, explicitly including a performance in the natural setting of L'animal a l'esquena, to make the thinking behind them more tangible. The seminar will take place behind closed doors for the first five days. The third day will be open to the public, to air the conclusions of the debate.

L'animal a l'esquena would like to establish an ongoing relationship with each of the participants and their projects in the near future, setting up working environments that encourage the exchange of practices and ideas as well as building local and international links.

On this occasion LB FUNK offer their latest work, Sunk in LB FUNK, a journey through the world of references and inspirations that make up the band's imagination and that will help us understand the preoccupations and obsessions of this collective who have been experimenting in their own creative laboratory for over ten years now.
